Welcome to Abolish Horse Slaughter Canada!
We have created a forum that will enable horse defenders from around
the world to share their information and strategies in an effort to
achieve an end to equine slaughter in Canada. There has been a
recent proliferation of horse slaughter facilities--B.C., Alberta,
Saskatchewan, and Quebec are now involved in the butchering of horses
for human consumption (most of the flesh is sent overseas, some being
eaten in Quebec). There are six equine abattoirs altogether in
The horse slaughter industry is rife with animal welfare violations.
There is no such thing as the humane slaughter of a horse! To learn

Remember that this vile industry will do anything to protect its
selfish interests. It is profit-driven, with animal welfare of little
concern. An Ipsos-Reid poll, however, has already shown that
Canadians care about horses. In 2004, 2/3 (64%) of respondents
indicated that they are not in favour of killing horses for human
consumption). With a little more public education, that percentage
will rise. Let's get the word out there, that butchers are
exploiting our beautiful horses for their own selfish gain, and the
suffering that these animals endure during loading, unloading,
transport, at auction marts, in feedlots and finally in the
slaughterhouse cannot be justified. It is an abomination!
For the horses,
