Thanks. I thought that it might have been something like that, but my brain just didn't want to accept that, since there are only supposed to be 24 hours in a day. I know, how regimented and unyielding of me! ;) But it just seemed that would be how it should work...it was just a matter of needing this odd practice confirmed.
And as for why your favourite shows air after midnight, I'm right there with you. Well, except for PGSM, but that's a rare exception, it would seem. Most of the anime that I've liked had aired after midnight in their runs in Japan.
