Sept 19 - 21 ... Fort Wayne (Detroit) 1812 Weekend - Detroit, MI
See the full list of events at the Calendar of Events website;
Fort Wayne, Detroit will again have an 1812 weekend in 2013. The event is scheduled for Sept 19, 2013 with a Friday set up and open to the public on Sat (20th) and Sunday (21st). The 2012 event was an anniversary event of the Surrender of Detroit. Participation was limited partly because this was the first year for the event and conflicts with other 1812 events in the area. However, Fort Wayne and the City of Detroit liked the event so much they are very excited to have it annually until the 2015 anniversary event of the signing of the Springwells Treaty (September 8, 1815).
There is lots off room at this location and it is on the Detroit River. So there are lots of opportunities and possibilities for tactical demonstrations. We just need some Brits!
While the Fort is not from 1812, there is lots of 1812 history at this spot. The fort also has plenty of history from other periods that re-enactors will find interesting.
