Last year, Latvian mic designer Artur Fisher made a lot of DIYers happy by offering a slightly defective batch of his popular RM-5 ribbon mics as deeply discounted DIY kits. There was much rejoicing.
Unfortunately, there weren't enough kits for everyone who wanted one, and the machine shop has been disappointingly accurate since then. Which is why I'm really happy to tell you that RM-5 ribbon kits are back for a limited time.
This time around, there is no factory defect, just the exact components used in the RM-5 sold by the designer himself. This includes the
pre-assembled ribbon motor, stainless steel body, and custom-wound RTP-35 transformer.
Full kits are priced at $199--half of what Artur's retail customers pay (shhhh). But they're only available until July 7th, after that it's anyone's guess when we may see them again.
Follow the link below to place your order for an kit or to learn more about and hear samples of the RM-5.
(This is what your completed kit will look like.)
