Habitat for Humanity Judged Pleasure Ride
November 10, 2002, at Jordan Hollow Farm Inn, Stanley / Luray, (Southwest of
Front Royal) Virginia. All proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The ride will be held at Jordan Hollow Farm Inn and
neighbors over flat and rolling terrain on clearly marked trails. Start
point for the ride is at Jordan Hollow Farm Inn. Trailer parking is ample,
and a rest room is available at Jordan Hollow.
Check in will begin at 10:00 a.m. Start times will be pre-assigned, and
riders will be notified by mail or email. Small groups of riders may start at
the same time if requested on the entry form or email. Lunch is included.
Please leave all dogs at home!
JUDGING: The course will consist of 10 miles with natural and manmade
obstacles. Horse and rider will be judged on ability to negotiate these
obstacles safely, as well as on trail manners, general horsemanship, ability
to complete the ride within a prescribed time, and condition of the horse at
ride completion. Be sure to carry a hoof pick! NOTE: Because of problems
with the length of previous rides we will adhere strictly to the one minute
time limit for each obstacle and will also deduct points from riders
exceeding the optimum time for the total ride.
PRIZES: There will be an age category for Juniors up to age 18 plus several
equally divided age categories for ages 18 and above. Breed award ribbons
will be given in any category having at least 5 entries. Breeds with less
than 5 entries will be included in "Other Registered" category. Registration
papers must be shown at time entry is received, otherwise that horse will be
placed in the "Grade" category. Up to six ribbons will be awarded in each
age and breed group. Grand Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons will be
presented to the high point winner.
REGISTRATION/FEES: All entries must be PRE-REGISTERED. Since the limit is
100 riders, entries will be logged in by postmark/date. If you are planning
to ride with a group, we request that all entries be submitted together if
possible, to ensure sequential times for the entire group.
FEES: $30.00 incl lunch
