Mrs. Angeline Sykora Marik, 78, of East Bernard, lost her life in an automobile crash in Wallis, Sunday, Sept. 10th, 1978; the accident occurred in the afternoon. Her husband, Ladislav Marik, 85, was injured.
Mrs. Marik was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Dennis King of Wallis, and her husband was taken to the Sealy Medical Center by an Ambulance from the Austin Co. Emergency Service.
The accident occurred as Mr. Marik, driving a 1963 Chevrolet, traveling north on Highway 36, attempted a left turn. A 1973 Buick, driven by Donna May Dixon of Rosenberg, struck the Chevrolet in the right side. Mrs. Dixon and her husband, Michael, were traveling south on Highway 36. Neither of them were seriously injured. The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 36 and FM Road 1093.
Chief Lee White of Wallis investigated the accident, assisted by State Trooper Ed. Michalke and Doug Weiss of Austin County.
Funeral services for Mrs. Angelina Marik were held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Interment was at 2:00 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Bell Wood Cemetery in Temple.
Surviving are her husband, L. J. Marik, of East Bernard; eight daughters, Mrs. Martha (Ray) Grierson of Fort Worth, Mrs. Jean (William) Nemeth of San Diego, Cal., Mrs. Ann (George) Zukywich of Houston, Mrs. Millie (Van) Thompson of Houston, Mrs. Lillie Marie (John) Opie of Fort Worth, Mrs. Dolly (Craig) McGarrah of Houston, Mrs. Joanie Correll of Houston, and Mrs. Justine (Fadlo) Touma of Saudi, Arabia; one son, Ernest Marik of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Stella Cykala of Hungerford; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. – East Bernard Tribune.
