John Henry Yochem, III 'Jack' died Sunday, January 30, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jack was born in Corpus Christi, Texas 27 years ago.
He is survived by his parents John Yochem Jr. and Charlotte Yochem, his younger brother Harry, his maternal grandparents Jim and Barbara Prendergast, his paternal grandmother Phyllis Yochem, his aunt Brigid Prendergast (Steve) Rhyne, uncle Stephen Yochem and aunt Madalyn Yochem. Jack's paternal grandfather Johnny Yochem and his aunt Maggie Prendergast Thetford predeceased him.
Graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans in May of 2009 with a B.A. in History, Jack was a skilled, articulate and passionate debater of all issues, particularly social issues, popular or not. Occasionally, he was wrong, and charmed his opponent with his smiling concession.
Jack was authentic, always himself and deeply devoted to his brother Harry, his friends and his family. He felt it was his duty to right any and all wrongs that touched his inner circle. Jack was the first to praise and commend any friend's achievement and would spend his last dollar on just the right bottle of champagne to celebrate.
Jack was an avid sailor and spent his youth sailing at the Corpus Christi Yacht Club with his lifetime friends. He was smart, handsome, exceptional and full of strong character. Jack was wildly loved and will be so badly missed by so many people'the words do not exist to express the sorrow.
Memorial Service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi, Texas, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Please make a donation in Jack's memory to the charity or cause of your choice.
