Edward Emil Chumchal, age 92, of College Station, passed away on April 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Aug. 31, 1920 in Hungerford, a son of the late Joe and Mary Knesek Chumchal.
Edward was reared in the Wharton/Hungerford area and attended school there. He worked as a row crop farmer and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He took pride in feeding his family and friends with vegetables from his garden.
A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 in the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at 3 p.m. at Wharton Cemetery with Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating.
Survivors include daughters, Jane Chumchal Novosad of College Station, Gail Marino and husband Carl of Fayetteville, Dorothy Kaspar and husband Ted of Brazoria and Sara Young and husband Steve of Guy. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Kubena of Edna; brothers, Pete Chumchal, Ben Chumchal and wife Ann, Daniel Chumchal Sr. and wife Clara, all of Wharton, and Louis Chumchal of Hungerford; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by a son, Walter Miller Jr.; a sister, Martha Janik; and a brother, Joe Chumchal Jr.
Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
Wharton Journal Spectator
