Funeral services for Edward Brune, 50-year resident of this area, were held Monday afternoon from Hubbard Funeral Home, Rev. C. Emigholz officiating. Interment was in City Cemetery.
Mr. Brune, the son of Henry and Fanny Vatipka Brune, was born March 10, 1878, in Austin County, near New Ulm. The family moved to Bois d'Arc, northeast of Weimar, when he was about twenty years old. He married Miss Emily Trojan of that community in 1901; his wife died July 25, 1924. For the past two years he had made his home with his son, Alfred, and with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Freis, his son-in-law and daughter at Osage. He had been a farmer until his retirement several years ago.
Surviving are five sons, Max of Columbus, Alfred of Osage, Henry of New Bielau, Eddie (with the Army in Europe), Leroy of Fort Worth; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Hattermann of Oak Grove, Mrs. Ben Braden of Fort Worth, Mrs. Richard Freis of Oswage, and Mrs. Thomas Earley of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Minna Runge of New Ulm; and 21 grandchildren. A son, Adolf, died in the service of his country on Okinawa on May 14, 1945, at the age of 24 years.
Pallbearers at the funeral were Willie Poppe, Joe Freis, Jr., Ed Kaiper, John Kasper, Chas. Otto, and Gus Braden.
