Nelda Germann Kubala, age 88 of Seguin passed away on January 28, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from Noon to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
Nelda was born on April 23, 1924 in Guadalupe County to Ernst and Elsa Hoffmann Germann. She proudly attended Elm Creek Country School and was a 1941 graduate of Seguin High School. In 1948 she married photographer Leon Kubala and throughout their union they captured, through Leon Studios, the life and times of Guadalupe and surrounding counties resident’s life events. Nelda was a lifetime member of Cross Church. She and Leon served a grateful community not only in their message in photographs but on several different boards and committees throughout Seguin and Guadalupe County. Upon retirement Nelda and Leon entrusted their lifetime of work to The Heritage Museum in Seguin where their photographs are now displayed.
Nelda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Leon Kubala, her parents, and her siblings and their spouses, Erna Engler and husband Leon, Edna Coley and husband Herb, Meta Jackel and husband Ernest, Hilda Woelke and husband Fred, Arno Germann and wife Doris and brother-in-law, Carter Jones.
Survivors include her daughter Heidi Haverlah and husband Doug; granddaughter, Katie Adkinson and husband Josh; grandson, Kevin Haverlah and fiancé, Jazmin Bradburn; great-granddaughters, Makenzie and Madalyn Adkinson; sister, Norma Jones; brother, Reno Germann and wife, Connie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
