Funeral services for Gloria Tallas Raska, 73, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 10 AM Thursday, April 12, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 1400 Radio Lane, Rosenberg, TX 77471, with Rev. Rhonda Detenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX.
Visitation will be 5 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Billy Engling, Rusty Price, Robert Harrigan, Dustin Sebesta, Nathan Jan, Mervin Judy, Jimmy Grant, and George Dotson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Padon, John Miller, Richard Engling and Billy Derr.
She was born Gloria Ann Tallas on October 31, 1938, in Sugar Land, TX, to Frank Tallas and Mary Vavrecka, the youngest of five children. She died April 9, 2012, in Sugar Land, TX. She graduated from Sugar Land High School, where she excelled in many sports such as volleyball and basketball. Gloria was married to Howard Raska for almost 50 years before his death in 2007. They owned Coastal Butane Service in Rosenberg, and were Life Members of the Fort Bend County Fair Association, being named together as the 2005 Fort Bend County Fair Honorees. She was also a Needville Youth Fair Sponsor, member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg, and a member of the Rosenberg Women's Club. Loving the outdoors, Gloria enjoyed fishing, watching hummingbirds, and fresh flowers from her gardens. She loved playing bunko and cards with friends, but most of all, she loved family gatherings and time spent with her family.
Mrs. Raska was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Raska; her daughter, Jennifer Raska; one sister and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Terry Raska and wife, Lisa, of Rosenberg, TX; two grandsons, Garrett and Westin Raska, both of Rosenberg, TX; her special friend, Prissy Lou; special niece, Marilyn Sue Baker of Cut and Shoot, TX; mother-in-law, Genell Talasek; sister-in-law, Beth Spangler and husband, Walter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
