NEW ULM -- John L. Labay, 81, of New Ulm, died Wednesday,
April 25, 2001.
He was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Vox Populi, to the late Jerome G. and Julie
Ann Frnka Labay. He was founder of KULM Radio and Columbus Auto Parts. He was a
rancher and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg. He was
a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and a member of the Knights of
Columbus in Industry.
Survivors: daughter, Kathleen M. Labay of New Ulm; sisters, Julia Schulze
of Deer Park and Leona Smajsterla of Houston; brothers, Allen F. Labay of
Houston and Raymond Labay of Summerfield, Fla.
Preceded in death by: wife, Ella Mae Labay; parents; sisters, Hattie
Krpec and Evelyn Daniels; brothers, A.J. Labay and Jerry Labay.
Prayer services and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 6:30
p.m. today at Henneke Funeral Home chapel.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church in Frelsburg.
Services will be 10 a.m., Friday at the church, the Rev. Wayne Flagg
Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Henneke Funeral
