Mildred Marie Svec, age 82, of Hungerford, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in a Wharton nursing home following an extended illness. She was born on Oct. 20, 1925 in Hungerford, the daughter of the late Charlie Krenek and Marie Borecky Krenek.
Mrs. Svec was a lifelong resident of the Hungerford area and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Hungerford. She married August Adolph Svec on Feb. 12, 1945 in Hungerford. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2003. Mrs. Svec was a waitress at the Dinnette in Wharton for many years, she also helped her husband with the family farm. Mildred loved cooking for friends and family, working at and attending bingo and her flower garden. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Krenek.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church in Hungerford. A Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church in Hungerford with Rev. Henry C. Rachunek officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Krpec and husband, Benny, of Hungerford; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Svec and wife, Charlene, of Hungerford; sister, Evelyn Lister and husband, Anthony, of Spring; brothers, A.G. Krenek and Raymond Krenek, both of Onalaska; three grandchildren, Jason Krpec and wife, Lynna, Vickie Krpec, and Dana Svec Orsak and husband, Bernard; great-grandchildren, Cameron Orsak, Carissa Orsak and Jenna Krpec.
Pallbearers were Jason Krpec, Bernard Orsak, Lee Hillman Jr., Alan Krenek, Larry Bubela and Ben Husinecky Jr.
Memorials may be made to the St. John's Catholic Church Grotto Fund.
Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
