Ellie Koether Windel
CUERO Ellie Koether Windel, age 93 years, 1 month and 1 day, of
Cuero, died at her residence Saturday morning, Feb. 17, 1990.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1990 at
the Oak Memorial Funeral Home in Cuero with the Rev. Alfred O. Hoerig
Burial followed in the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Oak
Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers were James Crain, Herman
Schaefer, Elroy Coldeway, Ernest Meier, Arthur Schodde and J.J.
Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Kohler, Carlton Stubbs, Edwin Nagel,
Lester Giese and Gilbert Kasper of Shiner.
A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Windel was born Jan. 16, 1897, in Lavaca County, to the late
Henry and Emma (Buehring) Koether.
She was married to Ed G. Windel, who preceded her in death April 16,
Mrs. Windel is survived by two sons, Dr. Forrest W. Windel of Cuero,
Leland T. Windel of Moseslake, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Alois (Alma)
Kasper of Shiner; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, May 28, 1914; her mother,
May 20, 1947; five brothers, William H. Koether, Apr. 6, 1963; Albert
J. Koether, March 5, 1891; Alvin Koether, Oct. 24, 1933; Hugh G.
Koether, Jan. 9, 1971; Gus G. Koether, Oct. 4, 1980; and one sister,
Mrs. Ferd. (Erna) Kasper, Nov. 3, 1957.
