To those Middletown and vicinity experts...
How certain is it that the Quebec School House fight was near the location of today's Quebec School House Rd and the Middletown-Burkittsville Road (Primary School 83)?
Reading the accounts and looking at the Official Atlas and the 1858 Bond map allows an interpretation that the fight was at a schoolhouse closer to Burkittsville at the Arnoldstown Road and the Old Middletown Road (PS 74). The modern roads comprising the old Burkittsville-Middletown Road starting from Burkittsville which comport with the OA and Bond are the new Burkittsville-Middletown Road then the Picnic Woods Road, Bidle Road, lastly Walnut Street leading to the Old National Pike (Main Street) on the west end of Middletown.
While the "new" Middletown Burkittsville Rd (Rt. 17) follows the path(s) of roads shown in the OA and Bond, it looks like the "old" M-B Road was the one more used.
