Supt Howard did post a release
about this at the Battlefield
web site on 9/23. In part it said:
"... Also during this storm high winds knocked three large limbs from
the large Sycamore Witness tree at Burnside Bridge, these limbs fell
directly onto and into the bridge. The force of their impact broke
open a 5-foot long by 3-foot wide hole in the south wing wall of the
bridge. Our skilled maintenance staff placed a temporary wooden sleeve
over the wound until permanent repairs can be made. But the sycamore
still stands, as does the Bridge."
The release also has more information and pictures as well, if you'd
like to get details.
