Here is a worthwhile housing-related volunteer opportunity for those around in Indy this summer. Please see below about an exciting volunteer on June 30. Various public tv stations are having an informational program about the foreclosure problem and then folks can call in for advice and help. Locations are in Indy, South Bend, and Bloomington. RSVP to the email listed in the email. If you want to join me, I am looking at volunteering at the Bloomington site. It would be fun to have a group there.
Request for Volunteers for IFPN Phone-A-Thon
on June 30th
The purpose of the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention
Network Phone-A-Thon and public awareness campaign is to serve as an outreach
to troubled homeowners educating them on the foreclosure process and resources
available. The Phone-A-Thon will give troubled homeowners the opportunity
to access foreclosure prevention assistance through the privacy of a phone
call in a well advertised event and directly engage them in actively avoiding
The public awareness piece will include a
thirty minute program being aired on PBS and on network stations throughout
the state and educate Hoosiers about the foreclosure process and resources
available. We are currently working with PBS to produce that program. In
addition, 60 and 30 second Public Service Announcements will air on network
and PBS television stations and radio stations throughout the state encouraging
folks to call-in to the Phone-A-Thon or visit a website about the Phone-A-Thon.
The Phone-A-Thon will take place on June
30 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Although the Phone-A-Thon will be available
to everyone throughout the state, three PBS stations have agreed to allow
IFPN to use their phone banks as intake centers for the calls. All
calls in northern IN will be routed to the PBS station in South Bend, all
calls from central IN will be routed to WFYI in Indianapolis and calls
from the southern portion of the state will be routed to Bloomington’s
PBS station. IFPN counselors,
attorneys, realtors and other volunteers will staff the Phone-A-Thon.
If you are available or know of anyone else
who may be willing to participate at either the Elkhart/South Bend Station,
Bloomington Station or Indy Station, we would appreciate the help. Please
contact me at sreeve@...
with the names of all those who will be participating. For the convenience
of the volunteers, we are splitting the time into two three hour shifts
– from 4:30 – 7:30 and 7:00 – 10:00. Of course, anyone wishing
to stay the entire 5 hours may feel free to do so. Dinner, snacks
and beverages will be provided.
We do ask that all individuals who agree
to participate in the Phone-A-Thon participate in a one-hour webinar that
outlines the process and information that everyone will need to know. The
webinar will be offered from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on June 22nd
– June 26th. A recorded version will then be made available
for those who could not participate at the appointed times. You may
contact me at sreeve@...
if you have any questions or want to have the recorded webinar emailed
Thank you for your support of Hoosier homeowners
and the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network!
