REBT and Stuttering
Here at Stutter Less With REBT, you'll discover how rational emotive behavior
therapy (REBT) can help you to stutter less. You'll have the opportunity to talk
with others who are using REBT to stutter less.
Many people who stutter report that their stuttering increases in severity when
they are nervous. Conversely, their stuttering decreases in severity, and in
some cases disappears altogether, when they are relaxed.
REBT -- which stands for a rational emotive behavior therapy -- is a method of
helping people to relax in what would otherwise be stressful situations.
A growing number of people have discovered that by using REBT's relaxation
methods they have been able to bring their stuttering under control. (As an
aside, REBT can also be used to get rid of other undesirable emotions such as
anger and depression, and has also been used to help people overcome
self-defeating behaviors such as procrastination and addictions.)
You can learn more about REBT at the REBT Network website.
The Shameless Happiness website also has a free eBook that goes into greater detail.
Sadly, there has been very little written that specifically shows how REBT can
be used to help people who stutter. Stay tuned, as that is going to be remedied
in the very near future.
