I just returned home after traveling to New York to work for nearly 2
Any of you who use the web/email for work and communication can
appreciate the torture of not being able to get daily access to stay
current! That was my situation for almost 2 weeks!
I participate in this group and another very similar one that is set
up for English Channel Swimming. Well, between the 3100 Mile Race and
the opening of the English Channel swimming season and a current swim
tide, there were literally hundreds of messages. That would include a
few work related messages too!
At any rate, I just wanted to be sure everyone was aware that our
very own Vedika (Zurich) completed her English Channel crossing last
Saturday. A good story in that the water/weather conditions were not
at all favorable. In fact two of our boys and other swimmers also
scheduled to swim, postponed their swims until the next tide in the
first part of August. But Vedika? She decided to give her swim a go
anyway. The reports read that she literally swam in one place for 3
hours but refused to get out. Her boat pilot, is one who has assisted
some of our group's other Channel swimmers. He really understands
our "never give up" philosophy, and let Vedika continue. And continue
she did... 22 Hours and 27 Minutes landing on the Cap Blanc!
There are congratulations messages to Vedika literally from ALL over
the world as she has made so many many friends during her years of
swimming from England to France. Vedika has made a real impact on
this swimming world because while she has swum a relatively faster
Channel crossing, last year she braved 23 hours and completed. Now
the swim this year gives so many swimmers and observers reason to
take notice of our philosophy as it applies to their own world.
And good luck in The Zurich Lake Swim next Sunday. There are alot of
Channel Swimmers and "in-training" Channel swimmers planning to swim
in the event!
And now - does anyone have the schedule for the boys yet to swim?
Karteek and maybe 3 or 4 others I believe should be swimming in this
next two weeks. Good luck to them!!
I'll post about the 3100 Race next.
