TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A fire burning on the Tohono O'odham Reservation has forced the closure of the Kitt Peak National Observatory west of Tucson.
The San Juan Fire is believed to have started Tuesday in a remote, mountainous area of the reservation.
Tribal officials say the fire has grown to 400 acres.
The fire information page of the Southwest Coordination Center said a helicopter and firefighting crews had been ordered to the fire scene.
Authorities say the fire is about five miles from Kitt Peak.
The tribe says "no structures are currently in danger and Kitt Peak is closed to all nonessential personnel."
