OKLAHOMA 7, INDIANA 2
The No. 8 University of Oklahoma® Hockey club spotted the Indiana Hoosiers a two-goal lead in the first period but scored seven unanswered to come from behind and win the game 7-2 on Friday night in Bloomington, Indiana. Possibly due to the game getting off to a very late start due to poor ice conditions, OU starting goaltender Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN) struggled in net, letting in two of Indiana's first three shots to put the Hoosiers up 2-0 just over five minutes into the game. Helgason was pulled and Matt Pombo (Allen, TX) came in to shut the door on the Hoosiers the rest of the way. Forward Brian Wright (Plano, TX) got the Sooners on the board with a goal at the 6:40 mark of the first to make it a 2-1 game. Ryan Lee (Edmond, OK) tied the game at 11:18 of the first and then Jarrod Yost (Murphy, TX) put OU up on top for good just 25 seconds later. Blake Martin (Anchorage, AK) scored two minutes after Yost's goal to make it 4-2 after twenty minutes of play. Aside from the slow start, the first period also saw forward Chris Nicolaou (Dallas, TX) go down with a lower body injury that will likely keep him out of action for a few weeks. In the middle stanza, Nic Power (Bixby, OK) scored a short-handed goal at 14:22 of the period and then fed the puck to Martin for a power play goal at the 17:21 mark to make it a 6-2 game after two periods. Just over five minutes into the third period, Travis McKinney (Highland Village, TX) tipped in a shot while on the power play to round out the scoring for OU. While not scoring a goal, defenseman Troy Puente (Thousand Oaks, CA) played a pivotal role as the blueliner had four assists in the 7-2 road win for the Sooners.
Indiana was 0 for 4 on the power play while OU was 2 for 6 with the man advantage. Helgason stopped one shot and Pombo stopped all 16 shots he faced from the Hoosiers. IU goalie Justin Lincoln stopped 18 of 24 OU shots he saw in the first two periods while backup Jason Burriss stopped 7 of 8 OU shots in the final period.

OKLAHOMA 7, INDIANA 3
Almost twelve hours after Friday's game, the No. 8 University of Oklahoma® Hockey club was back on the ice against unranked Indiana on Saturday afternoon. The Hoosiers came out flying but Sooners goaltender Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN), back in net after a slow start the night before, denied the Hoosiers at every opportunity in the first period. Ryan Lee (Edmond, OK) scored just over seven minutes into the game to give OU a 1-0 lead, a lead that would hold to the first intermission. In the second period, Brad McCabe (San Diego, CA) scored just 1:45 into the stanza to double the Sooners' lead to 2-0. Defenseman Augie Hoffmann (Lake Forest, IL) scored on the power play at 7:27 to make it a 3-0 game and, less than two minutes later, Dan Rombach (North Richland Hills, TX) added another to make it 4-0 Sooners. McCabe scored his second of the game while OU was short-handed by two players at the 14:20 mark to make it 5-0 in favor of the good guys. However, as he skated back to the bench, McCabe shushed the Indiana bench by bringing a finger to his lips and was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Indiana took the momentum from Sooners, who spent quite some time killing penalties, and the Hoosiers finally got one past Helgason before the end of the period to make it 5-1 after forty minutes of action. Less than two minutes into the third period, IU scored on the power play to tighten the game at 5-2. However, Nic Power (Bixby, OK) scored at 3:31 of the final period to bring the OU lead back to four goals. Indiana scored 23 seconds after Power's goal to make it 6-3 but Keith Denton (Vail, CO) added a power play goal at 14:52 to make tonight's final 7-3 in OU's favor.
Indiana was 1 for 10 on the power play while OU was 2 for 7 with the man advantage. Helgason stopped 40 of 43 shots while Indiana goaltender Dan Abramson stopped 30 of 37 OU shots. With the weekend sweep, Oklahoma is now 5-3-1 while Indiana drops to 3-11-0 on the season. The Sooners host No. 16 Oakland this Thursday night at the Blazers Ice Centre in Oklahoma City.
