Ingrid Veninger, actress and indie film director, took her crew from Toronto to her mother's birth place Modra to shoot, in English, the story of a Canadian teenager on a visit to her Slovak grandparents' family with a casual friend from school. Against the backdrop of the picturesque wine-growing town, their relationship becomes edgy with some rough words exchanged while her relatives take them to be lovers and entertain them with reminiscences, folk songs, tavern visits, a palacinky cooking lesson, and more.
The annual Thomas Kukucka Lecture is an educational, non-commercial academic event, no fees are collected.
