Subject: [chaosfamily] Swords
For those who will be training with the Silver Daggers...
Many of our members use Boken's or wooden
Samurai swords. Wooden swords are great when training because you don't
smash body parts too bad, and the person can keep training even after they've
been hit. NOW...we TRY very hard not to hurt each other while training,
but every now and then...we DO get hit in an area where we don't WANT to get
Anyway...wooden swords are great unless you actually fight with them.
Wood splinters and every few training sessions you end up having to replace your
sword or staff or whatever.
Last weekend, I held my 13th annual martial arts camp. One of the
guest instructors brought out some polyurathane
(sp) swords. I beat the CRAP out of them over
the weekend against about 20 different fighters and the thing held up through
everything I could put it through.
A good wooded samurai sword normally goes for about $20. These swords
cost about $40. The instructor that brought them out said that he's been
using his for almost a year now. They are the same size and weight as the
wood swords, but I think will last for MUCH longer than wood.
Anyway...for those that might want to get one of these...I bought 6 of
them. The normal price is $60, our price is $40.
ALSO...we really haven't set up a regular time to train...but if anyone
wants to get together this Sunday, let me know and we can meet around 6:30 or
7:pm. That will give us a good hour or two before it starts to get dark,
and it'll be cooler than training earlier in the day.
Next weekend is Father's Day...so I'm assuming that several people won't be
able to meet...so we'll start our normal sessions of every other week, the
weekend after that.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to give me a call at
PS...Vandor...could you post this on the other groups you've been in
contact with. Thanks
