In most school districts in Washington state, computer science is an elective course that does not count as a math or science credit, even though many of the technology jobs at the state's pre-eminent companies are rooted in an understanding of computer science. Because it does not "count" many able and willing students forego taking computer science classes and take other classes which fulfill graduation or college entrance requirements. Washington State legislature is considering having computer science count for either math or science. HB1472: Providing initiatives to improve and expand access to computer science education. This will allow and open the path for computer science (robotics classes - POSSIBLY) be counted as science or math for graduation in the future. http://www.geekwire.com/2013/washington-bill-cse-classes-count-math-science-graduation-requirement/HELP make computer science COUNT!
