I just got off of the phone with Cliff Uyeda at Kenwood, and asked as to the
likelihood of the D7's and VC-H1's being sent in time for this weekend's
event. He assured me that he is trying, but since the radio and sstv units
are so new, that virtually all of their offerings are out there being
reviewed by the magazines. When I made mention of the fact that there would
be at least two D7's there, he remarked that he might be able to make the
I reiterated the fact that we appreciated the fact the he and Kenwood are
doing their +ACI-Due Diligence+ACI- in helping to pave the way for the next
generation of Amateurs. He accepted the thanks, and acknowledged the fact
that they are trying to be very much a +ACI-Pro-active+ACI- partner.
If any of you are of a mind to, you can personally thank Clifford at
Cliff and Kenwood have so far shown a devotion to the hobby, far exceeding
my wildest expectations.
I gave Paul (KR4YL) a couple of the videos that Cliff sent, pertaining to

I visited the BSA Service Center today, to get some rough numbers on the
expected turnout for the +ACI-Spectacular+ACI- from John Baringer (paid
professional). I asked just how many boys they thought might make it to the
+ACI-Spectacular+ACI- this weekend. Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but
because the boys (girls in Explorers) sell so many tickets to the event to
civilians, they aren't really sure how many actually make it. He said that
so many come and go on the day of the event, that it is really hard to
