A bad use of the word common in the historical literature of course,
but bad nevertheless. They are not fictitious in the common use of the
word - they are felt and registered as displacements of pointers on
real detectors. Calling the cause of the motion of a pointer
"fictitious" is clearly Laputan - or at least not judicious. The real
distinction is that the inertial force is an artifact of the
non-gravity acceleration of the local frame (in Einstein's sense)
rather than from an external field with some kind of localizable
It is an interesting problem, whether in GR alone, sources can
spontaneously rotate without non-gravity torques applied? Can the
gravity field alone exert an impulsive torque on a material body or
exotic vacuum and cause it to rotate indefinitely in space (assuming no
friction) from conservation of angular momentum?
Remember any g-force must have a non-gravity force cause!
That is, (LC) = 0 ALWAYS in a pure gravity theory allowing ONLY
inertial geodesic motions!
You can never have (LC) =/= 0 without a non-gravity field as the cause.

can never be physically realized in a purely gravity world without at
least electromagnetic forces, charged particles and quantum effects.
This is an interesting problem in that GCTs cannot exist physically
without non-gravity forces!
