I found this page which *very* briefly describes the customization
cycle which seems to include using an external FPGA for your
prototyping and "eASIC" internally in production. They still don't
say if this is a mask step or if they are using factory programmable
fuses or laser links or what...
Opps, here is a link talking about how this works. Seems they do
initial steps (or steeps as they call them :) with laser
based "eBeam" lithography. The final sounds like it is a mask
layer. So no cheap FPGA/ARM9 combos for us!
