Bill, I believe the following two facts should answer your questions. If
not, fire away.
1. Church records were not turned over to the archives until 1952.
2. After 1895 the church was no longer responsible for maintaining vital
records for the state.

Subject: [S-R] Baptism/marriage entries
If a notice of death is entered in the Baptismal records, whether the
death occurred in Slovakia or in the US after 1895, this brings up a
number of questions. If the records were turned over to the archives in
1895, who made the additional entries? How were the entries made to the
records, since, presumably, the records were no longer in the churches?
Obviously, the entries must have been made while the records were in the
churches, since the notations are on the photocopies made by the LDS.
Did the LDS photocopy the records in the churches or in the archives? If
in the archives, how did the post-1895 notes get into the records that
the LDS photocopied? If in the churches (after 1895), what records were
turned over to the archives? Were there duplicate records turned over to
the archives and also maintained in the churches? Did the priest or
minister go to the archives to make the entries there? Did an employe of
the archives add these notations when notified of the death of a former
parishioner? Do the archives update their records periodically?
The same questions arise when someone born before 1895 emigrates to the
US and marries in the US and has children born in the US.
Presumably, not all post-1895 notes are entered. Do the questions above
apply to the post-1895 records maintained in the town halls? Are those
records also updated?
