I don't mind at all referring you to our researcher in Slovakia that we
hired and he is a member of our group here on Slovak Roots, Vladimir Bohinc.
I hope he doesn't mind me tooting his horn here, but we were VERY happy with
his work. I choose him because I appreciated his helpful nature here on the
list and his apparent knowledge in what he shares. Not only were his fees
reasonable for the amount of time and travel he did on our behalf, he is
very professional, thorough and was as interested in finding our ancestors
information as we were! He's shown much patience with my never ending
barrage of questions and always answered them promptly. If he didn't know
the answer, he found it. As far as his fees, you would have to discuss that
with him personally and I'm sure it would depend on what you wanted him to
research. There are alot of variables to deal with such as distance he would
have to travel, his time and expenses etc.
The thing to remember is that there are no guarantees that any researcher
can find anything at all, just like in this country. I'm so glad we did this
because now I know that the birth and marriage records he found for us, I
never would have been able to find on my own without traveling to Slovakia
to search for them myself. Feel free to email me privately if you have any
As far as translating goes, several people on this list were kind enough to
offer to help me out!
