Job Title: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANNING INTERN
Description: The City of San Leandro Community Development
Department/Planning Division is seeking an interested college student who
is willing to volunteer and gain valuable practical experience in the
planning profession. As an Intern, you would work 15-20 hours a week over
a three-month period, being supervised and mentored by the Planning
Division staff. The position will provide assistance in areas of zoning
and planning administrative duties, zoning code updates and Climate Action
Plan activities. The Department is flexible in determining a work schedule
to accommodate a college student's class schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this voluntary Internship assignment,
a college student would be required to have the following qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in pursuit of
obtaining a Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in planning or environmental
studies or a related field; completed of a minimum of 30 upper-division
college semester units; ability to proficiently use a personal computer
and has a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite software.
Knowledge of specialized database software applications in the planning
field is highly desired.
The ideal Intern is a good communicator, both orally and in writing,
detailed-oriented, highly organized, adaptable and energetic, and
possesses the ability to work independently.
