MANAGEMENT AND POLICY PLANNING SERVICES (MAPS)
MIG is a multidisciplinary firm specializing in participatory planning,
community design, communications, policy planning and management with
offices in Berkeley, Davis, Fullerton, and Pasadena, California; Portland
and Eugene, Oregon; and Raleigh, North Carolina. We have a staff of over
hundred professionals with backgrounds in landscape architecture,
architecture, urban design, strategic planning, land use/regional planning,
environmental planning, organizational development, management,
environmental psychology, education, transportation planning, recreation,
sociology, marketing, journalism, graphics, and media design. Our clients
include cities, counties, nonprofit organizations, public and private sector
entities throughout the country and internationally.
The MAPS Team provides organizational development and training, agency
policy planning and implementation, community planning
and implementation, and community outreach services in the following areas:
social welfare, transportation, land use, environmental resources, parks
recreation, growth management and education.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Project Associate will participate in all aspects of project design and
implementation, including group facilitation, research, writing, development
of materials, meeting support, content analysis, administration and client
contact. Associate will work closely with principals and project managers
a member of interdisciplinary project teams and have opportunities for
B.A./B.S. in the social sciences, public policy, urban studies, planning
or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
1-5 years work experience desired, depending on educational background.
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication required.
Experience in group facilitation.
Good graphic communication skills and/or ArcView GIS a strong plus.
Strong interest in policy planning, community involvement, organizational
development, training and management, and social
and organizational change.
Computer proficiency especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Bilingual ability a plus (not required).
This is a full-time position in our Berkeley, CA headquarters which will
open until filled. Salary commensurate with experience; start date flexible
(May 2006 or later).
