Public Policy Institute of California has two fulltime
positions open for application.
The first one is focused on aspects of the globalization of California's
economy & on international trade and investment more generally, while
second one (scheduled to be posted on our webpage later today) looks at
issues relating to state and local government finance, intergovernmental
relations, state and local health policies, and social policy such as
welfare and immigration.
For both positions, candidates should have strong
experience in quantitative
analysis and proven analytical ability, solid computer skills (most
importantly, SAS and/or STATA; also Excel, Lexis-Nexis & bibliographic
search engines, and ARC View), and excellent written and verbal
communication skills. 1-2 years of part-time but intense & substantive
work in academia could provide the appropriate level of skills. These
positions offer good opportunities for candidates with a policy interest
are considering entering a PhD program in 2-3 years. This can also
good opportunity for candidates with a BA or Masters who are interested
developing their research skills further but who don't have a well-defined
interest in pursuing additional graduate training.
