Dixie Mahy --
It's been well-reported that organic farmers are unified behind Proposition 37. What's less known is that conventional farmers, and even GMO farmers, also support labeling genetically engineered foods.
Troy Rouse is one of them. Troy grows GMO corn and soybeans in Indiana, and appeared in the highly-acclaimed documentary, Food, Inc
.. Now he's speaking out on behalf of Proposition 37. Check out FixFood's outstanding 90-second video of Troy here
In the video, Troy says:
“I would be in support of Prop 37. Consumers absolutely have the right to know what they’re consuming. I’ve always been a supporter of labeling. Europe had done it for years. It’s not a big deal.
It comes down to people’s right to know what they eat, which is, to me, pretty obvious. I mean, shouldn’t we all know what we’re eating. Now, I think I think industry’s counter to that is, ‘yes, but they don’t understand.’ I don’t know that that’s a valid argument. Let them educate themselves, let them make an informed decision.
As a farmer, I invite labeling, I encourage labeling, I’d love to see labeling. Labeling is a win for farmers, and a win for consumers.”
What he said.
