Hi. I have Kaiser and I'm not happy with it, but I have been told it's the
only game in town. Does anyone know of alternatives for raw types?
First, the value is not there with Kaiser. My monthly dues are in the
hundreds; I've been raised $50/year for the past 3 years, so that I pay $150
more now than I did 3 years ago. Meanwhile, they've taken away my eyeglass
benefit and now my co-pay just went up. [However, Kaiser does have a big
entertainment box at Oracle Arena. Hmm. Do my dues support that?]
Second, their culture is.dumb. Last week, I just had a bunch of blood work
done, and all my doctor can say in terms of discussing the results is, "Take
calcium daily." (Thanks, but the Milk Board on TV already told me that ;) It
is so cookie cutter. And the raw thing is very "different" to the doctors
I've connected with. Just being vegan is "different," there.
What I really want in health care is massage, blood analysis, stuff that can
actually improve my health and my understanding of myself as an organism.
So, I am questioning the usefulness of this coverage, even though I know
it's "prudent," at least that's been the working assumption. At the same
time I'm afraid to disconnect from it.because.because they say that wouldn't
be prudent. And what if I fall off a ladder and break my leg.
That said, you don't build up any equity thru your payments. So if you DO
get hurt, you better have a lot of premium money saved up or sorry, no
Kaiser is set up to deal with the SAD mentality people. I don't know if raw
people are supposed to just pay them to be on the safe side, or if there's a
better use for our hard-earned money.
Thanks for any input personally or thru the list.
