This is a group of avid dog mushers who do it without snow using wheeled rigs, gigs, skates, skateboards, scooters, bikes, mountain boards, what have you. We explore the selecting, training, and care of dryland mushing dogs, as well as discuss suitable breeds, trails, solutions to related problems, and equipment. This is a forum for meeting other mushers in the southeastern United States and is an offspring of the yahoo group DogsLovetoRun catering to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and other southern states so we can address the unique issues of mushing relating to our hot humid climate as well as meet other mushers in our area and organize get togethers and "Fun Runs". We would love to see the sport grow, as it such a boon to solving the problem of "hyper dogs" that alot of times end up in shelters, provides immense enjoyment as a thrill sport and bonding activity between musher and his dog team. A human cannot walk nearly as far as a dog can run, and dryland mushing provides satisfaction for a dog's desire to roam and see the sights, while allowing the human to keep up. It is great aerobic and conditioning exercise to keep both musher and dog in great physical and mental health. Tons of information on the sport in our Files, Links, Databases, and Photo Albums including a classified ads section. Experienced mushers, newbies, or the curious are all welcome! (And you don't even have to live in the Southeast U.S.!)
