By now everyone should have heard about the massive earthquake in India,
that happened a few days ago. Thousands are dead or missing, and many more
are homeless. At least one entire town was mentioned on the news as being
abandoned, because the damage was so severe that those who survived
litterally had nothing to go back to. There is also severe damage in
neighboring Pakistan. The focus has now shifted from search and rescue to
cleanup, finding and dealing with the dead, and trying to help those still
I have read that the earthquake was 7.9 on the richter scale and "was
the largest in India since 1956, and lasted about one full minute, causing
high rise buildings to tumble to
the ground in pieces."
Many nations are helping, as are we (thew Americans). The American Red
Cross is said to be flying in supplies of food, medicines, blankets, etc.
Please help if you
can. And please, whatever your beliefs, pray for these poor people.
