> 1. Should I line the hood with silk (in a contrasting color)? I'm
wondering if a silk lining would just slip off all the time and drive him
(and me by extension) nuts. Or perhaps it would make his hair all static-y
and stand straight up when he removes the hood? What are your experiences?
De: I don't recommend it, at least not the slick stuff. Should consider
linen or if you have enough of the wool, line it with that. Another reason
for not silk is that it sounds like you are making a cloak for everyday use
and not a foraml rich noble or merchant cloak. Depending on the fleece's
thickness you could line the hood with that and trim around the edges with
some fur to hide the fleece.
> 2. I showed him a couple of pictures, and he likes the longer pointy hood
that hangs half-way down the back. What are your experiences with that? If
you have one like it, did it work out okay? I'm wondering if the weight of
the long point might also make the hood try to slip down off the head.
De: Is the picture one of your designs or is it from a painting or
illumination? I have only seen the the liripipes(?)/tails half way down the
back or down just past the butt with nothing longer then a short cape and a
sort of coat like garment that kind of looks like a cloak that has the hem
stop at lower calf but not a full length cloak so I would be interested in
seeing the picture of a full length cloak with the long hood tail.
De:Is this what you are thinking of making (I don't know how much
documentation/research went into this design)
