Looks like a poor interpretation of mid - late French garb. I have done some
research but it is mostly women's garments.
If you are looking for French garments, here is at least one mid-late 1500s

So while surfing the net I came across this picture at the New York Public
Library website. Sketched in the 1800s depicting French 16th century attire.
Can some people weigh in as to period accuracy for this outfit?
If it is 16th century, is that a belted waffenrock or pumpkin pants with the
waist concealed by the belt?
