With my sideless sircoates, I make the front lower than the back for anumber of reasons:
I have never seen a back of a sideless sircoate low like the front.
for sideless sircoates that are lower in the front, it would not look right (according to what I have seen..... but I am not a researcher so you researchers that are, please correct me if I am wrong)
Practical - be able to tell the front from the back.
This is how I have worn mine for years (since '92) so if I am wrong, I'd be happy to have an excuse to make new ones!

Subject: [SCA-Garb] Sideless surcote back view
Can anyone direct me to online pictures that show back views of sideless
surcotes? I'm in the process of cutting one out, and it occurred to me to
wonder whether the back neckline should be cut relatively deeply to match
the front (and the neckline of the cote underneath it), or higher, or
whether it doesn't matter.
