It would be worth a try. Maybe make a light wooden
frame to stack strips in, attach wheels & handles to
make a mobile butt.
In kiln building I've made a hefty wooden frame in
which to stack 3" sliced ceramic fibre strips,
installed a floor hydraulic trolley in the frame,
included strapping across face of strips, compressed
the strips, fastened the strapping, eased the
compression. Resulting in blocks made from strips
For archery purposes do same with 9"-1' carpet strip,
install in butt frame, cut strapping.
