Honestly, folks, this is pointless to argue over. To the point of allowing a
crossbowman to shoot a popinjay round and submit the score is to make it easier
for said crossbowman to shoot said competition whenever he is confronted with a
40 yard range. One would think that common sense would prevail and one would
not try something so dumb as to endanger their neighbors for a mail-in contest.
Some of us do have the room and appreciate the rule change. Some of us even
have access to mundane ranges. The Vogelschutzen has a whole 4 people submit
scores last season, so it is not like a flood of unwashed archers has been
released upon the world to wreck havoc with a crossbow. Looking at the IKAC
results, we know there are more than 10 xbowmen out there, and the Honorable
Company of the Crossbow merely wishes those gentles to try the popinjay contest
once or twice.
