Apparently the "grand old lady" is going to go the way of so many important
landmarks in DeKalb County and across the nation -- knocked down into a pile of
rubble and then hauled to a landfill, unless the contracting entity
that hired the wrecking crew is farsighted enough to recycle the bricks into a
new construction somewhere.
The architecture reminds me a bit of my
beloved old Waterloo High School, likewise demolished years ago.
It seems to me the home of A.H.S. could
have been rehabbed and turned into something useful for the community -- but oh,
High School Class of 1965
