**My elfish ears pick up the tone....Griping on a Faire that is still in its infancy..still finding its legs, after having to pull up completely from it's old home.....
And these eyes fill with sadness, bowed in ponderings.**
Yes...Excalibur is NOT your normal Faire yet. Instead of being able to just go and camp out, sometimes one needs to lift thier arms in work at times. For those of us that have gone - AND - deeply believe in this Faire in its rebirth, having to build a little sweat makes it worth it all. When we look upon what WE have done afterwards....We KNOW WE ourselves did this!! :D
I walked amongst the sites this weekend..and was filled with joy intense, as only an elf could hope to feel....
Pirates, Rogues, Wenches, Fairies, bellydancers...Through the heart of these all doth thine
eyes look upon beautiful campsites laid out...several even cleaner and more kept than at campsites at TRF.
Why?? Because it was done by hand..and in that toil pride flowed out to mark the work well done :).
Yes....The land of the campsites is forest and brush. yet- Did Sherwood Forest folk complain that at first they had to toil? Nay.
Last year there was no real place to sit in Faire. This year there were more benches and logs situated around, for when thine legs grew tired. True...Shade areas are essential, yet even a tree takes time to grow...just as doth a Faire :D.
My ONLY "con" about Excalibur??
It is something completyely out of the Faires control this year :(. The thought that the Closing of this GREAT beginning Faire falls on the Opening of another in my home area. This makes this elf feel
remorse - because he doth must choose between two loves indeed.
