Because the RC Soaring Digest PDFs are now averaging around 10 MB in
size, there are some readers, specifically those with dial-up
connections, who are finding it difficult and time consuming to
download the more recent issues.

For those familiar with PDF compression schemes, rest assured the
compressed files retain all of the fonts of the original, and the
entire PDF remains compatible with older versions of Acrobat Reader.
One of the side effects of compression is, however, a loss of image
quality. This appears as haloing around edges and some reduction in
But the choice is yours. If you want to continue downloading RCSD
exactly as it's created, and have the means to readily download large
files, use the link on the RCSD web pages for both new issues and
those in the web site archives, just as before. On the other hand, if
you have difficulty downloading large files and are willing to
tolerate some loss in image quality, you can begin downloading the
compressed version from the rcsoaringdigest Yahoo! group Files page.
Because the Files section has limited space, we're going to be able to
keep only about four of the most recent issues there. As new issues
are added, the oldest issue is very likely to be removed.
Additionally, the Files section has a daily download limit, so you may
not be able to download files immediately. Just wait about 24 hours
and try again.
If you appreciate having these compressed versions of RCSD available,
we'd very much appreciate hearing from you.
