Would you like to find ways to stretch your grocery dollars while improving your diet? You can and University of Minnesota Nutrition Education Assistant Nadine Bayer can help!
Bayer will share her expertise from 10-11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, at Winona Volunteer Services. Children from 1st through 6th grades are encouraged to attend with their parents to learn how to cook nutritious meals together.
Attendees will learn how to:
• Recognize low-cost foods with the most nutrition
• Understand the importance of planning meals with a shopping list
• Prepare a few low-cost meals with your children
• Add flavor to foods with low-cost herbs & spices
The class is part of Moving Ahead to Financial Freedom (a Winona community initiative) and is comprised of representatives from the community: Habitat for Humanity, Merchants Bank, United Way, Winona National Bank, Winona State University, Winona Volunteer Services, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union and the Winona Workforce Center.
