I used many so called L lenses, and never bought one.
I really do not feel confortable with Canon pro quality glasses.
I like primes, and their primes are few and nothing special, their
zoom are prone to flare and only the mark2 version of some of them
look decent on 21megapixel sensor.
TSE NEW VERSION primes are a good exception, 17, 24, 45, 85 mm tilt
and shift. With balls.
Said that you do want a reasonable priced zoom to cover 28 to 200mm
and have some quality?!?
Good zooms for price have a maximum zoom range of 3X and a relative
aperture of 3.5/4.5/5.6
You'd better run for Tokina and Sigma. NEWEST sigma lenses have good
antiflare treatment, Tokinas' have even a better one developed by
Pentax. 2nd hand, coz now they are only producing apsc lenses...
the old 28-80 ATXpro is quite good
the 2.6-2.8 28-70 is a legend (but a bit too much flare sensitive)
I could recommend Canon old 24-85 only for APSC cameras, it was a
surprisingly good lens with big weaknes on the border. For all
allarounder lenses... originals are crappy, investing the same money
on a 2nd hand 3rdparty zoom is a better idea.

> Just got the 5D MK II and shaved my 10.5mm to use on it (previously used on a Nikon D80). As I got the body only I also need a good quality 'regular' lens and have spent so much time reading up on Canon lenses I thought I would ask here as my main use of the camera is Virtual Tours.
> Something like the 18 - 135mm lens I have on the D80 is a good all rounder as sometimes I need to take a couple of regular shots for a client while I'm on location but I need something that will make use of full frame and preferably 21mp. Could I get something for less than $500 US or am I dreaming?
> Wonderful camera though and certainly what I was looking for.
> Look forward to any advice please,
