I've watched this group for a bit and have some questions on setting up a
new base system. I'm currently printing on a Vandercook Uni 3 with a 18 x 24
steel base. I like the idea of ganging together smaller bases to form a
larger base. I will be doing this with my new Heidelberg 12x18 - four 6x9
bases together. Does anyone have advise on setting up bases on a Windmill
press? What is the gripper and guide clearance?
I plan to continue use of vinyl back polymer for ease of registration. I am
in the habit of printing a laser output of my press sheet and using double
stick tape to attach the plate to the output. This runs through the press
and registers every time. Can this be done on a Windmill? Having previously
used steel backed/mag base on the Vandercook, I don't understand any
advantage to that system.
P.S. My studio space (The Rossmor Building) is being sold as a residential
loft and I need to move in a matter of weeks. I am trying to find new space.
If anyone knows other printers in the Minneapolis area looking for space as
well, please advise.
