Putin hails Russian Church's contribution to tackling social problems
Moscow, September 4, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church acts as a
keeper of the nation's spiritual traditions and helps the government tackle
day-to-day social problems, President Vladimir Putin told Patriarch of
Moscow and All Russia Alexy II on Sunday.
"Today the Russian Orthodox Church is not only a keeper of the century-long
spiritual and cultural traditions of our people. It helps the state resolve
day-to-day social problems," he said.
The Russian Orthodox Church "plays an important role in educating young
people - educating them in the spirit of patriotism, justice and commitment
to family values," Putin said.
