Russia Pilgrimage 2006
Dear Reverend Fathers and Brothers and Sisters in
As some of you may know, the RMS is sponsoring a pilgrimage to Russia this coming Spring, from May 25 through June 9, 2006. The purpose of this pilgrimage to Russia is not only to worship at the shrines, but also to encourage the catacomb Christians of Russia and to serve them.
As one of the largest Orthodox Empires in history (until this past century), Russia is a treasure trove of
Churches, icons, holy shrines, and holy relics of unsurpassed beauty and spiritual blessings. To make a pilgrimage to these holy places is a great blessing, and a source of spiritual strength and encouragement for every Orthodox Christian.
The funds of the Missionary Society (which are generated almost solely from the annual Russia pilgrimage) make it possible for Father Alexei to take Holy Communion and hear the confessions of the nuns in the Kazan area, the Christians in Moscow, the Crimea, Belorussia and elsewhere. Not only is this pilgrimage a great blessing and gift for the Orthodox pilgrim, but it becomes a source of benefactions for many struggling and poor Orthodox Christians in
We pray that many people will make the decision to join Metropolitan Macarios this Spring for the Russia pilgrimage it will take place in the Paschal season, and pilgrims will enjoy the added blessing of visiting the churches while they are decorated in their Paschal best!
Wont you please join Metropolitan Macarios, Father George Kochergin and Mother Seraphima in this most special, meaningful pilgrimage? Or if you are not able to go yourself, would you consider sponsoring another Christian
