Many thanks to those who attended the Chiapas Bus Tour stopover at Zeitgeist on Wednesday night. Please take notice of their upcoming New Orleans events over the next couple of nights and come out to get some great info about Chiapas with great people and support their great work, which includes helping the Zapatistas to build their own community schools:
THURSDAY, JULY 3:
6PM-8PM: NEUTRAL GROUND COFFEE HOUSE (5110 DANNEEL ST, UPPER GARDEN
DISTRICT, ABOVE ST. CHARLES BETWEEN JEFFERSON/NAPOLEON)
8PM-10PM: BLUE NILE (FRENCHMEN STREET, ACROSS FROM CAFE BRASIL,
FAUBOURG MARIGNY BEHIND FRENCH QUARTER), w/IMPROVISATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL,
which features members of THE FRANK ZAPPATISTAS
FRIDAY, JULY 4, INDEPENDENCE FROM CORPORATE LIES DAY:
6PM-8PM: FAIR GRINDS COFFEE HOUSE (3133 PONCE DE LEON, BY ESPLANADE
WHOLE FOODS, MID-CITY)
The folks on the Chiapas Bus are doing much great work in their efforts
to bring public awareness to the plight and struggle of the Zappatistas
in Southern Mexico, a situation that has many parallels to our own
challenges in New Orleans. PLEASE come out and support them at one or more
of the events that they have scheduled above during the New Orleans leg
of their tour.
Many thanks to Brian Marks and
the folks in Baton Rouge to getting
those of us in New Orleans aware of the Chiapas Bus.
